We can all agree that this has been quite the year. While many things may have gone unexpectedly, don’t forget to take time to safely celebrate whatever you accomplished this year (no matter how big or small!) Grab a drink, bottle, or kit from one of Pittsburgh’s distilleries to toast the end of 2020.

Wigle Whiskey

Wigle Whiskey first opened their doors in 2012. In the past 8 years, it has continued to grow in to a local favorite. Now, Wigle Whiskey now has over four locations* in the Pittsburgh area. The Strip District distillery brews whiskey, bourbon, brandy, gin, bottle cocktails, and more for your sipping pleasures. While the space is beautiful, the history behind that location is ever better. It was the first distillery out of Pittsburgh since the Prohibition, and well worth the wait. The inventive and passionate team consistently creates spirits from organic, local, and afar ingredients to create a flavor packed sip. Dine-in, pick-up, or order online to enjoy their selection of alcoholic beverages. Need to spread holiday cheer? You can buy limited edition Holiday sets and and spirits online while supplies last.

*Airport location is currently closed due to COVID-19.

Lawrenceville Distilling Co.

Lawrenceville Distilling Co. entered the Pittsburgh scene in 2018. As a family owned and operated distillery, the passion and dedication is clear in the craft. Smooth and subtle gin and vodka is produced on site in their Butler Street location, year round.  Their signature spirit is Parking Chair Vodka, a tribute to the Pittsburgh tradition of how to save your street spot. It is a wheat based vodka, as opposed to potato, making it smooth and subtle. In addition to straight spirits, you can order cocktails to-go at the distillery. Ready to make a purchase? Try a classic gin and tonic or “Melt Your Heart” to spice up any Zoom happy hour.  Plan your visit by booking a Covid-19 safe gin experience or private event today.

Kingfly Spirits

Kingfly Spirits has it all, seriously. The business serves as a distillery, venue, and bar. Small, handcrafted batches are carefully made to create rich, smooth liquor. This includes rum, vodka, whiskey, and more. Our recommendation? Warm up for the cold Pittsburgh winter by trying bliss spiced rum in your holiday drinks or cakes. If you feel like paying a visit to their physical storefront, social distancing and masking measures are in place for a safe shopping experience. Visit their Smallman Street store to browse their selection of alcohol, glasswear, cocktail kits, and other items. Make the most of socially distancing by brining the bar home through buying a cocktail kit. Covid-19 safe events are taking place at their historic and beautiful event space, so follow Kingfly Spirits on Facebook to stay updated.

Ridge Runner Distillery

A drink that is well worth the drive is Ridge Runner Distillery in the Laurel Highlands. The owner, Christian W. Klay, brings his knowledge of winemaking to the table for unique flavors unlike any other distillery. Whiskey, vodka, moonshine, and more are available for purchase. Try ordering a bottle of the peach pie or apple pie liquor as a holiday gift for the drink lover in your life. Pair your beverage with an event by touring the distillery on the weekend* for a private, educational (and fun)  experience about distilling.
