One of the best things about summer in Pittsburgh is having ample chances to catch an outdoor

yoga session. My favorite free outdoor yoga class takes place downtown at Market Square every Wednesday evening. What better way to finish up a long workday?

Yoga in the Square is a free event that takes place on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings from May 26 through September 29. The classes are free, so there’s no excuse not to check it out at least once during this summer!

The Wednesday night classes go from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The timing is perfect for anyone who works downtown, in the strip district, on the north shore, or at Station Square. Get out of your work clothes, stretch a little, and chill after a stressful day’s work. Having a relaxing break in the middle of the week is just what your summer needs!

Or if you feel like heading downtown on a weekend where the traffic is light and parking spots are plentiful, get a nice start to your Sunday morning with the 10-11 a.m. class.

Remember, Yoga in the Square is BYOM: bring your own mat. It’s first come, first serve, so get there early if you want an up-close or in-the-shade spot. The class instructor changes every week.

And it goes without saying that one of the nicest things about this outdoor event is the location. There’s always something fun going on in Market Square during the summer. There are plenty of restaurants and happy hour spots to hit up after your vinyasa flow. If you head to the Sunday classes, grab brunch afterward at Cityworks or talk a walk down to or, The Whale.

While we love Yoga in the Square for its prime location and time, there are many outdoor yoga events throughout the city during the summer. Check out the list of upcoming instructors, and namaste!
