1 – Networking is key.

Meeting others who have the same interests and passions as you will ultimately help build your connections leading to more opportunity in the future. There are local networking groups all over Pittsburgh.

2 – Put yourself out there.

Sometimes networking or meeting new people can be intimidating but eventually it becomes second nature. Don’t be afraid to ask others to have a conversation about their experiences.

3 – Know your worth.

Working with brands can be an honor, especially if it’s one of your favorite brands. Don’t be afraid to negotiate your price on running ads for them. This is when having your own media kit will come in handy.

4 – Create a media kit.

A media kit is like a creative resume showcasing all of your previous work and statistics.

5 – Be yourself.

No matter what, always be yourself. Not everyone will love you or agree with you but always remember to brush it off and continue to do you.

6 – Be consistent.

Make sure to keep up with the latest trends in your niche. Post and write often so your readers can also stay up to date. Pittsburgh may not be a large city but we are constantly changing and it’s easy to get behind if you’re not keeping up with new trends.

7 – Interact with your readers.

Leave your blog open ended so your readers can have their own discussions. It’s always important to respond to your readers as much as possible. It can give your blog a very personal feel.

8 – Understand your audience.

Ask your readers what they are interested in. What do they like reading about or what do they wish to see more of? This can actually make your job much easier and keep your audience pleased.
