There’s a crispness in the air and the leaves are starting to turn. We know most people are getting excited that fall is right around the corner, but some summer events are still going strong. The first day of fall isn’t until September 23, so take advantage of these late-summer events still happening downtown.
Saturday Night Market at Market Square
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s Night Market + Concert Series is still going on every Saturday night in Market Square. Taking place from 5-10 p.m., you can peruse local markets in this outdoor pop-up shopping area. The weekly series features vendors that offer art, furniture, boutique clothing, and furniture.
There’s also food and drink vendors, in addition to the restaurants and happy hour spots in Market Square. It’s a great place to walk around, shop, and eat outside.
Local Entertainment
In addition to the vendors, every Saturday brings together Pittsburgh entertainers, singers and bands. A singer-songwriter competition featured over 20 finalists on September 7. Through September and October, some familiar names from the Deutschtown Music Festival will be performing. Several performers haven’t been announced yet, so you can watch for the online list to be updated, or just plan on checking out new talent at the event.
Live Jazz at Nola
For jazz lovers, Nola on the Square has live jazz and blues music on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8-11 p.m. Enjoy a Nouveau Creole menu while sitting outside on their patio. The live music and jambalaya will make you feel like you’re in New Orleans for the night. Nola has a list of performers and bands for all of September and October.
Yoga in the Square
Another favorite downtown event is Yoga in the Square. This free (yes, free!) yoga series takes place every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings from 10-11 a.m. Bring your own yoga mat, and destress after a workday or get a relaxing break during your weekend. This is a great way to enjoy some end-of-summer weather.
Food Trucks at Stanwix Street
Food trucks are a summer staple, but don’t feel like the food truck season is over! Every Wednesday through November, you can get your food truck fix at 11 Stanwix Street from 11:30-1:30 p.m. The full vendor lineup is listed out here.
So while we’re excited about all things pumpkin, there’s still a lot of fun summer activities taking place downtown. Check out a few from now through the fall!
