What do you get when you combine a unique collaborative workspace with a top-tier neighborhood cafe? Field Day. If you are a frequent visitor of the Lawrenceville neighborhood or a nearby resident, you may be familiar with this delightful space on the corner of Butler Street and 37th.

Field Day perfectly combines a professional coworking space for businesses and entrepreneurs with a delicious and quaint café open to the public. If you are looking to check out the first floor of this space, known as the Café, but don’t have time during the work week, they are also open on Saturdays! Plus, this week Field Day is hosting an evening event in their café titled Aperitivo. Allow us to tell you more…

Field Day’s Café is open to the public Monday – Saturday for breakfast treats, sandwiches, coffees, teas, and other goodies. The Café space is very modern and minimalist which makes it the perfect place to grab a bite between meetings, work on a project over an iced coffee, or have a meeting with a colleague in a casual environment. With the weather warming up, Field Day is hosting its first event of the year open to the public. Aperitivo, an Italian term referring to the period before dinner when you enjoy appetizers and snacks alongside alcoholic beverages, is the perfect name for this happy hour-esque event.

On Friday, April 7th, the Café welcomes the public from 5 – 9pm for music, featured cocktails, and exclusive sandwiches. Music-wise, you can expect Jarrett Tebbets, Kerem Gokmen, and Brian Siewiorek – all local DJs and producers. Who doesn’t love supporting Pittsburgh talent?

Speaking of local talent, the small bites and exclusive sandwiches will be undoubtedly incredible, as the chef of the Café is a familiar talent in the city of Pittsburgh. Chef Joey Hilty of Lawrenceville’s restaurant The Vandal is the brains behind the menu at the Café. If you’ve ever visited The Vandal before, you are familiar with the fact that Hilty knows exactly what he is doing. The flavor profiles of each dish he puts together, not to mention the presentation and local sourcing of ingredients, is something you don’t come by all that often.

Currently, the menu at the Café at Field Day features an absolutely STACKED avocado sandwich with chickpeas, radishes, and other delicious veggies, perfect to keep your energy going all day long. You’ll also find their classic breakfast sandwich topped with a fluffy egg, roasted tomato, sharp cheddar, and Calabrian chili with an optional bacon add-on. Vegetarian? The Café is happy to make any modifications to fit your dietary needs!

Now let’s talk about drinks. Depending on the weather, our go-to coffee beverages are either the iced mocha or the hot honey cinnamon latte with oat milk. Not a coffee drinker? They also have refreshing teas like their current featured pineapple mint green tea, YUM!

Another lovely feature of the Café is its retail section. With house plants from local purveyor, Synthesis, luxury candles, incense, and other trinkets, it is the perfect spot to peruse while waiting for your order to be ready. Fun fact: Field Day gift cards are redeemable at the Café for food, beverages, and retail gifts!

If you adore this space as much as we do, consider renting a space to work from on the second or third floor of Field Day! As a monthly renter, you’ll have access to your own space 24/7 as well as shared conference rooms, call booths, a kitchen area, printer capabilities, and more.

There are different agreements depending on the length of time you plan on renting the space as well as how big of an office space you need for your business. To explore the options, put through an inquiry on Field Day’s website!

Maybe you’re just looking for a change of pace every once in a while. Consider a day pass! These are perfect for professionals that work from home but want a reason to get out of the house and be in a collaborative environment. One huge perk of the day pass is that you gain access to the rooftop terrace with gorgeous views of the neighborhood, which is only available for coworking pass holders. You might even sneak a peek at the downtown skyline!

So whether you’ve heard of Field Day before or are just hearing about it for the first time, come out this Friday evening from 5 – 9pm to Aperitivo! Enjoy the DJs spinning tunes, sip on featured cocktails, and indulge in light bites courtesy of Chef Joey Hilty and The Vandal. Hopefully, this will be the first of many events this season at Field Day and the Café!
