Usually when Easter rolls around, many school-aged children are in a major thrill, as they prepare to head off on their Spring Break vacations with their family and friends.  Yet, for most – that was childhood, and now we are in adulthood facing the many long hours and limited vacation times we totally grew accustomed too growing up.

However, let’s not forget, this is Pittsburgh!  There are so many different places to visit and see – essentially, our own backyard is a tourist destination.  So why not for a long weekend or so, be a tourist in your own city?

With that being said, below we’ve assembled some of the best hotels and Bed & Breakfasts to stay at while you enjoy a little staycation, that perhaps is much needed.

The Hotel Monaco, which is one of the newer hotels in town, offers an array of foodie-ready places to binge and dine at their own convenience.  From The Commoner to The Biergarten (located on the roof of the hotel), guests will truly be astounded by the vast array the hotel has to offer.  And when it comes to the accommodations – image the tale of “Alice in Wonderland” coming to life.

In every sense of the word “modern”, the Fairmont Hotel defines that word and more.  From the marble accents to glass finishing all over the hotel, you truly feel as though you have stepped into a work of art.  Why not enjoy your evening at Andy’s listening to live jazz, or enjoy a seasonal cocktail at Fl. 2. For those in need of more pampering, there is an on-site fitness center and spa at your command.

Young, hip and fresh – these words stand synonymously with those that enter the doors of The Ace Hotel in Pittsburgh.  Refurbished from a prior YMCA building, the hotel serves as a meeting place for those young at heart. Pull up a seat at The Whitfield’s bar, and you will feel as though you are in a salon in Paris, discussing the topics and ideas of today.

Fall into a sense of a trance with a stay at the Distrikt Hotel, located right off of Boulevard of the Allies facing the Monongahela River.  As a staple in the heart of downtown, you are not far from the best in culture, from theaters, restaurants, to even the excitement of Station Square, a quick walk (or T-Train ride) across the river.

The Mansions on Fifth

The grand dame of Pittsburgh hotels, the Omni William Penn is without a doubt the most formal and glamorous in the city.  A spot flocked to by celebrities, sports stars, as well as presidents. From the oversized crystal chandeliers to the gilded hallways, you will feel as though you have been transported to a bygone era.
