A charity auction which is a pun and also benefits Animal Friends? Yes please! For some this BARKitecture event may be barking up the wrong tree, but if you love your four-legged best friend as much as we love ours then this food-drink-auction event will make you take paws and sign up for this girl’s night meow-ed or a guy’s night howled.
BARKitecture, returning to Pittsburgh for just the second time since 2013, will be hosted by PerLora on May 22. This event takes the talent of local architects and designers and puts their skills to use designing unique and creative animal shelters for cats and dogs. Each artistic house will be auctioned off to provide a much-loved pet a cool, new, one-of-a-kind home for their home.
This year there will be 12 highly sought after pet shelters available from these Pittsburgh-area architect firms and designers:

Doors open at 5:30 and while you await the animal shelter auction from 6:30-7:30 there will be small bites and tapas from Mallorca, tea sandwiches and desserts from Bartram House, and drinks. The night also features amazing staycation door prizes from Ace Hotel and Hotel Indigo.
Before the event you may even be able to catch a sneak peak of the shelters as they are placed on display in a few locations around town. Exact locations are TBD so be sure to check in with the PerLora BARKitecture folks for updates on that.
In the mean time they did give us a sneak peak of one up for auction this year: “PANT-THEON”: A combined effort of PWCampbell, Studio 109 Designs LLC, and P2 Custom Millwork. Given its historical-pun name we’re definitely going to try to get our paws on that one!
Not a pet owner? No worries! Animal Friends will have at least one dog and/or cat on hand ready to be adopted during the event – so you can get both a pet and its fave new digs all at once! We’re grabbing our ticket and getting ready to bid on that swanky new upgrade which will make all our pet’s pals jealous — after all it’s for a good claws.
