It’s no secret that Pittsburgh is a foodie town. After all, where else can you find an entire festival dedicated to pickles? In the Steel City, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by your dining options. Luckily, Made in PGH is here to help. Check out this tasty try: Thai Me Up in South Side.

A fan-favorite of the South Side community since 2002, Thai Me Up is a surefire way to satisfy your tastebuds. Their widespread menu, quality ingredients, and widespread praise has kept customers coming back over the years ( myself included!)

Thai Me Up is located at 118 S 23rd Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15203.This spot is only a few blocks back from the Birmingham bridge, easy to access and centrally located.

The original storefront was on East Carson Street, but Thai Me Up moved to it’s current location in 2013. Now, the larger space helps continue to serve South Side and beyond! You’ll often find their their food truck parked outside. A fire-engine red, the food truck bears a play on words: “you’re bound to like it.” This statement appears to ring true with most, as Thai Me Up has 4.5/5 stars on Google Reviews, scored out of nearly 500 reviewers.

Their indoor dining space reflects a vibrant set of colors, pairing perfectly with how flavorful the food is that served there. Spots of greenery, abstract paintings, wooden features, and orange walls make this dining space bring a great ambience to the dining room. The ambience alone makes  Thai Me Up a great spot for dinner out on the town. Keep this in mind for future date nights, as in-house dining services are currently suspended. Regardless of eating their food in-house or at-home, the experience is the same: delicious.

Thai Me Up’s menu is full of authentic Thai dishes to try. Curry, noodles, rice, rolls, soup, and more make up the menu. Find anything from Crab Rangoon to Thai Me Up Rolls (“Tofu with shredded lettuce, mint, vermicelli wrapped with rice paper served with special sauce”) to Pineapple Fried Rice, and more. Not sure if you want to try one of those dishes? Check out the 40+ menu items online to find your perfect takeout meal.

Author’s recommendation: Order from the lunch menu ( Mon. – Fri., 11:00am to 2:30pm) to get “any entree with lemongrass soup or a spring roll” for only $8.50 ( plus tax). My favorite combination is the chicken Z-U noodles with a spring roll on the side. Actually make that anything with the brown sauce – the perfect savory sauce for all dishes.

Not only can you buy food from Thai Me Up, but you can make it yourself. A slew of classes are offered to help you learn how to make traditional thai dishes, like pad thai and spring rolls, in the storefront. Not only is a great experience to take on with friends or family, but your future self will be thanking you. Currently, classes are not being held due to COVID-19. Check their website to stay up-to-date on the status of cooking classes.
