You know we love good food – it’s at least half of what we write about here. We also love good beer, because duh. So when we can find a place that has both, we’re hooked. And we’re hooked on Larder of East End.
If you haven’t heard of Larder, we’ll wait while you get out from under that rock. It’s Justin Severino and Hilary Prescott Severino’s latest venture, and it’s located within East End Brewing in Larimer. As you might expect, they’re not just serving up your typical bar food.
Many of Larder’s menu items are smoked using their Southern Pride smoker from New Castle. They’re using different woods, like white oak and cherry, depending on what they’re making. And they’re making quite the variety of dishes. The menu is focused on in-season produce, and it will be expanding slightly in the upcoming weeks.
We love that you can get anything from falafel to smoked wings to pimento cheese to a full platter inspired by Buxton Hall, one of the best BBQ restaurants we’ve ever been to. It’s in Asheville, North Carolina, and they’re known for their whole hog pulled pork. Larder’s Buxton Hall platter is overflowing with pulled pork, smokey baked beans, vinegary braised greens, and some of the best cornbread we’ve ever eaten. We’re planning on going with a bigger group next time so we can try one of everything on the menu…that’s totally acceptable and normal, right?
And, obviously, you can enjoy your favorite East End beers with your meal. Or a root beer or cream soda if you’re the DD – East End has you covered. To make things even better, Larder and East End will be collaborating for events throughout the summer in their outdoor area – so stay tuned for more details!
For now, Larder is open Wednesday through Sunday. They’re adding Tuesday service at the end of July, with hours matching East End.
