Halloween has come and gone and it is now November which brings one of the yummiest holidays…Thanksgiving! A lot of folks skip right over Thanksgiving and head straight into the December holidays, but not here. We LOVE all sorts of food, especially Thanksgiving food from local restaurants. We have rounded up some of the coolest menu items inspired by your favorite Thanksgiving dishes! Check these specials out before they are gone!

Family Deli Bethel Park – Snickers Bar

Family Deli boasts they are #morethanjustlunchmeat and this Thanksgiving creation definitely proves that. You may be thinking, “what does a sandwich called the snickers bar have to do with Thanksgiving?” Well, this thick sammie comes with maple glazed turkey, Vermont white cheddar cheese, brie spread, bacon, whole berry cranberry sauce, and a layer of homemade stuffing on thick-cut French Bread. Is that enough convincing of why this sandwich deserves to be on this Thanksgiving list? We thought so too. This sandwich is available until the day before Thanksgiving so go order it now!

Emporio Meatball Joint – Thanksgiving Bowl

Emporio is a known name in the Downtown food scene, as it is a part of the three-floor restaurant Sienna Mercato. Emporio is located on the first floor and specializes in meatballs! During November, their ball of the month is the Thanksgiving Ball. This meatball is made with turkey, stuffing, and cranberries. Add two of these Thanksgiving balls to a bowl of white cheddar mashed potatoes, top with corn and gravy, and you have the Thanksgiving Bowl. This signature menu item is available in November only.

DiAnoia’s Eatery – Pumpkin Gnocchi Bowl

Nothing says Thanksgiving like pumpkin pie. The flavors of pumpkin pie go far beyond basic pumpkin. Certain ingredients make up the perfect pumpkin pie, and the same is for the pumpkin gnocchi bowl at DiAnoia’s. They begin this meal with a small-sized pumpkin from a local farm. The chefs hollow them out, coat the inside in nutmeg and get ready to roast! Inside the pumpkin goes DiAnoia’s signature gnocchi, pumpkin cream, mozzarella cheese, and basil. The cheese pull you’ll get when you take your first bite is unlike anything else. This meal is a hefty one, so plan to share the meal or take home leftovers! There are only a select number of these babies available per day, so make reservations for an earlier dinner time if you want to make sure they have them in stock that day.

Burgatory – Thanksgiving Burger

The create-your-own burger joint, Burgatory, is stacking up a doozy this November. Their Thanksgiving Burger is BACK and ready for you! While a huge draw to Burgatory is the option to make something customizable, this burger is perfect for all Thanksgiving lovers. The base is an all-natural Turkey burger and is topped with farmhouse cheddar cheese, creamy mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, stuffing bread pudding, and cranberry jam spread on a brioche bun. Talk about a serious sandwich! For dessert, treat yourself to a pumpkin pie Burgatory shake topped with whipped cream!

Beaver Bagel Co. – The Gobbler

While you might believe Beaver is SO far away from the city, it is only a 45-minute drive from Downtown Pittsburgh – and it’s worth the trip. Beaver Bagel Co. has been one of the best spots for bagel sandwiches for anyone who has ventured to the Beaver Area. During November, Beaver Bagel Co. is offering the gobbler bagel sandwich. Stacked between two ends of a sweet potato bagel (made with house-roasted sweet potatoes), you’ll find slow-roasted turkey with gravy, green bean casserole, a stuffing patty, cranberry mayonnaise, and crispy fried onions. Truly the best of the best parts of Thanksgiving make up this handmade sandwich.

Mad Mex – The Gobblerito

We couldn’t write an article about Thanksgiving-inspired dishes without mentioning the famous gobblerito at Mad Mex. This classic fall dish at Mad Mex is a delicious combination of roasted turkey, black bean mashed potatoes, stuffing, and corn stuffed into a tortilla, burrito style. Don’t forget the gravy and cranberry sauce! The burrito is slathered in gravy and served with a side of cranberry sauce. Another fun way to enjoy this special is as a burrito bowl. They will serve up everything that comes in the gobblerito in a bowl instead of in a tortilla and it is delicious all the same! Pair it with an apple cider or cranberry margarita for the ultimate Thanksgiving vibe.

The Yard – Turk’d Up Grilled Cheese

No one does unique grilled cheeses quite like The Yard. Whether it’s their Mac Attack, Fresh Prince, Cheesy Capresey, or another awesome creation, you can’t go wrong at The Yard. Their fall special is a Thanksgiving dream, the Turk’d Up Grilled Cheese. This sandwich is made up of oven-roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes, corn, homemade stuffing, and turkey gravy piled on Breadworks sourdough Texas toast! This savory sandwich is accompanied by a sweet treat, a side of homemade apple and cranberry cobbler – the perfect ending to a Thanksgiving meal.
