We’re dishing up some delicious news for you…Dish Osteria and Bar will be reopening this spring! The restaurant and bar commonly known as “Dish” was in business from 2000 to 2017 and had a cult following for its incredible authentic Italian food and warm familial atmosphere.

Dish closed so that its owners, Michele and Cindy Savoia, could take a sabbatical from the restaurant business. Two years later, the Savoias said in a statement on their website, “we are now looking forward to getting back to doing what we love and welcoming you all at Dish once again.”

For 17 years, the ingredients at Dish were carefully selected and dishes and drinks were crafted with quality and taste in mind. Dish had rave reviews for both fantastic food and service from its patrons, many of whom treated the small 45-seat restaurant and bar like a second home.

Cuisine included classics like the Antipasto della Casa and Gnocchi alla Bolognase, as well as more unusual dishes like the Quaglia alla Griglia (grilled quail). While we don’t know what will be on the menu yet for 2019, it will undoubtedly showcase the Savoia family’s attention to detail and skillful Italian cooking.

If you were lucky enough to eat or enjoy drinks at Dish while it was open, you’ll be happy to know that it will be returning to the same location on the corner of 17th Street and Sarah Street in the South Side. Keep an eye out to see if they will be accepting reservations—they will surely be busy again in 2019.
