Prepare for a day of great live music in Pittsburgh, featuring national and local acts! The annual WYEP Summer Music Festival hits Schenley Plaza on June 24th.

Like always, this is a free event and open to the entire community. These acts are making moves in the music scene. Like WYEP says, this is where the music matters. Let’s take a look at the lineup!

Devon Gilfillian

This past April, Gilfillian performed his new single “All I Really Wanna Do” on the Kelly Clarkson Show, showcasing his guitar and vocal skills. This song will have the crowd feeling good! “Growing up in Philadelphia on a steady diet of R&B, hip-hop, rock, blues, and soul, Gilfillian gravitated to records that ignited his mind while making his body move.”

Illiterate Light

“Though just a duo, the Harrisonburg, Virginia-based singer-guitarist Jeff Gorman along with Nashville, Tennessee-based drummer Jake Cochran make surprisingly pummeling and thoughtful alternative rock.” Their new album “Sunburned” features the single “Light Me Up,” with guitar distortion making way to a catchy chorus.

Allison Ponthier

The talented singer/songwriter puts it all out there with her lyrics. Her new single “Character Development” is a fantastic pop song sing-along in the style of Maggie Rogers. The bridge builds up with Ponthier singing, “make your bed and lie in it,” before kicking to the final chorus. Get ready to hear this live!

The Ghost Club

Pittsburgh’s own Domenic Dunegan will have the hometown crowd rocking out during their slot. The cool pumped-up single “Don’t Let Go” has an awesome beat with lyrics about when you feel lost but still keep going. Not to mention some great saxophone! The song “Same Graves” has over 9 million Spotify streams. It will be a very energetic and fun set!

Animal Scream

The Pittsburgh duo will be playing songs from their new album “Heartbroke Motel.” The songs are indie-dance-pop at its finest, with beats that will have fans on the lawn dancing into the night. The tracks “Cannibals” and “Strangled Up in Tow” are standouts.

Aryana Kapree

“Aryana Kapree Booker-Gamez, a 16-year-old native of Las Vegas, NV, is this year’s featured WYEP Reimagination Project Artist.” Her debut single “Fly” is featured on the WYEP Reimagination Project, which was released on June 16th!
