The minority and veteran communities have been hit hard by effects of the pandemic. Which is why Minority Vets started their Supply Drop Tour – a program to provide veterans with essential supplies like non-perishables, fruits and vegetables, hygiene products, and even pet food. They’ve teamed up with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Pittsburgh drop (there are upcoming drops in 5 other cities, too).
When: Saturday, March 27 from 10am-1pm
Where: Stage AE parking lot
If you’re a veteran who needs some support, the deadline to apply is Monday, March 22 – you can apply here.
Here’s how it works: you must be a member of Minority Veterans of America to be considered. Membership is free and can be obtained here. If you’re selected for the Supply Drop Tour, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details you need to know about picking up your supplies, like your appointment time and directions.
You don’t need an ‘Honorable Discharge’ in order to receive supplies. All Minority Vets cares about is that you served.
The day of the Supply Drop, head to Stage AE at your scheduled time. If you arrive in a car, it’ll work like a drive-thru. They’ll check you in from your vehicle, direct you where to go, and put the supplies in your car. If you use public transportation or arrive on foot, they’ll take care of you, too.
The mission of Minority Veterans of American is to create belonging and advance equity for minority veterans. They aim to transform the narrative of the American veteran. Want to get involved? Become a member, become a volunteer, or give a donation.
