There’s a really BIG art event coming up! As in big, it literally means the artwork will be larger than life portraits. The event is Really Big Faces by local Pittsburgh artist Tom Mosser. The gigantic event goes down on June 18th at the Energy Innovation Center in the Hill District from noon – 3pm and 6 – 10pm!

These spectacular portraits will be a unique find to your art collection. The 80 larger than life faces are unlike anything you’ve ever seen in the art world. The 58×68 portraits pop with vibrant energy, giving you powerful art through a creative force. Really. Big. Faces.

In an interview with the Trib, Mosser talked about how incredible the space will be for the exhibit, which has 40 foot ceilings. “The building was a revelation to me. It’s an absolute dream space. The location has spectacular views of downtown.”

“It’s perfect for what I want to be a celebration of Pittsburghers and Pittsburgh itself..and our rise from a challenging two years.”

The cool thing about it is how each look is created from a hand sketched drawing. The paintings include a variety of famous Pittsburghers: Pennsylvania second lady Gisele Fetterman, former mayor Bill Peduto, concert promoter Rich Engler and his wife Cindy, and Pittsburgh Dad.

The show has been a long time coming, having been originally scheduled in March 2020. On Mosser’s website, he talked about the direction he took with his project. “I’m especially focused on front line workers.”

People from all walks of life can see themselves in the portraits, from the postal worker to the grocery store employee. From the health care worker to the small business owner. From the teachers to those in the arts community. Everyone can relate to these faces!

On Mossers website, he stated, “I want the show to be a celebration of Pittsburgh and a bold rise out of this dark shadow.”

With all the enormous artwork, it should make for a memorable time! You can check out the latest artwork here!
