Pitt Business Impact Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2025: Driving Positive Impact Through Human-Centric and Responsible Use of AI takes place on Friday, April 11th from 8:30am – 4:30pm at University of Pittsburgh Alumni Hall in Oakland.

The event brings together industry leaders and academic experts to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business and society. Focusing on the promise and perils of AI, the conference will spotlight AI’s transformative role across business, in education, and for humanity.

The University of Pittsburgh is at the forefront of research on AI technologies. Pitt and Carnegie Mellon are collaborating with NVIDIA to launch an AI Tech Community. Pitt Business has begun to include courses and certificates at the graduate and undergraduate levels that speak to AI’s impact on business. Colleagues from around the university will share their expertise in the day’s panel sessions.
Highlighted keynote speakers and panelists:
- 8:45am – 9:15am: Andrew Moore – Chief Executive Officer, Lovelace AI
- 10:45am – 11:15am: Elham Tabassi – Chief AI Advisor, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Tabassi was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in AI by TIME in 2023.
- 1:30pm – 2pm: Stefano Puntoni – Sebastian S. Kresge Professor of Marketing, University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business
- Saira Jesani – Executive Director, Data & Trust Alliance
- McKenzie Lock – Senior Director of Product – Content Promotion & Distribution, Netflix
Along with the three keynote speakers, there are four panel discussions during the day:
- 9:15am – 10:30am: “AI Deployment and Its Impacts: A Business and Industry Perspective” Moderators: Andy Hannah and Vanitha Swaminathan. Panelists: Saira Jesani, Mckenzie Lock, Bill Moore, Shane Shaneman, Justin Weisz, and Joseph Yun.
- 11:15am – 12:30pm: “Inter-disciplinary perspectives on Human-Centered and Responsible AI” Moderator: Rob Cunningham. Panelists: Michael Colaresi, Na Du, Morgan Frank, Michael Madison, and Shandong Wu.
- 2pm – 3:15pm: “AI in Education” Moderators: R. Venkatesh and Mark Haney. Panelists Tinglong Dai, Diane Litman, Michael Madison, and John Radzilowicz.
- 3:15pm – 4:15pm: “AI and the Human Experience” Moderator: Narayan Ramasubbu. Panelists: Saira Jesani, Alison Langmead, Lance Lindauer and Edouard Machery.
