Tis the season for all things merry and bright! The official start to the Christmas season in downtown begins on November 22nd! There’s so much going on, including the Christmas tree lighting, ice skating, village shopping, music, and fireworks.The night brings all of the holiday spirit and puts everybody in the most wonderful time of the year. Here is the detailed lineup so you know where to go without having to figure it out in the freezing cold air. Made in PGH has the schedule down!
PPG Plaza Tree Lighting @ 5:30pm
The ice rink will be ready as the annual lighting of the PPG tree gets under way. This also marks the start of the People’s Gas Holiday Market in Market Square, where you can get in the spirit with the Christmas shopping village, photos with Santa, holiday karaoke, and the BNY Mellon Season of Lights. You can also check out the One Oxford Center Tree Lighting at 5:45pm, which has free horse drawn carriage rides and Santa’s reindeer.
Highmark Christmas Tree Lighting @ 7pm
The big kickoff to Christmas happens at the Highmark Christmas Tree Lighting and rooftop fireworks celebration. Afterwards keep the festive night going with the Santa Spectacular fireworks, which begin at 7:45 at Point State Park. And wait, there’s more fireworks! The Zambelli Fireworks finale happens at 9:30–the official viewing area is at Ft. Duquesne Boulevard between 6th Street and Stanwix Street.
Adam Lambert hits the stage @ 8:30pm
Adam Lambert will headline the night, playing the Comcast Main Stage.The powerful pop singer recently released his new EP, and Pittsburgh is one of only a handful of dates before he heads to Japan in the new year. Many fans have heard Lambert sing with Queen—this is a chance to hear his new solo material, especially the new groove based falsetto dance single “Superpower.”
