National Comedy Center

Saturday Night Live Exhibit
Currently on exhibit is 50 Years of Saturday Night Live, a show that quickly became a cultural phenomenon redefining sketch comedy, launching countless careers, and shaping national conversation through sharp humor. With 50 years of history on display, everyone from Boomers to Gen Z’s will find something to reminisce over and share a laugh about.
Materials span the decades, from an original script from the 1975 debut episode when the show was dubbed “NBC’s Saturday Night” to a recent Nate Bargatze George Washington sketch. Visitors can re-experience memorable SNL moments, dive deeper into the show’s history, and maybe even uncover a sketch you’ve never seen.
SNL had a monumental impact on comedy as an art form, and the non-profit, nationally ranked comedy center strives to preserve and present the evolution of the genre, making it the perfect place to visit during this SNL milestone. “The National Comedy Center is the United States’ official cultural institution dedicated to the art form of comedy,” said Journey Gunderson, the executive director of the NCC.
Interactive and Immersive Comedy
Along with admission to the museum, guests receive an interactive wristband that is used to customize their comedy preference profile, creating a personalized experience for every visitor. By learning each guest’s sense of humor, technology adapts each digital element to suit their brand of comedy. Even in group experiences, the system combines common attributes between audience members to create a mutually enjoyable experience.
The exhibits include an interactive table to learn more about the use of classic comedic props, a meme-creation area, and even a chance for guests to put themselves in the “I Love Lucy” sitcom. Guests can also do comedy karaoke, where they choose a monologue to read off the screen and perform in front of an audience.
There is also a theater featuring throwback interviews and guests from the early days of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, hosted by a hologram of Jimmy Fallon.
Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum
The National Comedy Center also operates the nearby Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum and presents the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. For over thirty years, the festival has showcased rising young comedians and comedy legends including Jerry Seinfeld, Lily Tomlin, Trevor Noah, Joan Rivers, John Mulaney and more.
