This summer, take some time for yourself. Spend time outside, with family and loved ones, and in quiet spaces that allow you to rest and recuperate. The Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) is a great place for mindfulness, motivation and movement. Between the awe-inspiring art, gorgeous building, and unique events, the art museum is a great place to spend some time this summer.
One upcoming event is Self-Care Sunday, taking place at the Carnegie Museum of Art on August 18. Treat yourself to a day of self-care focused around meditation and activity.
The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday the 18th. You’ll start the day with a self-led meditation in the museum. In the morning, generate electricity with Generate Indoor Stationary Cycling, a cycling studio that turns your efforts into electricity that is fed back into the power grid. You can also take part in an Architectural Running Tour through Oakland with P3R, or experience a healing sound bath in the Music Hall.
Bring your own journal for a few moments of reflective journaling. There’s also a labyrinth walking meditation through the Hall of Architecture.
To fuel up after your productive morning, health vendors will be in the Sculpture Courtyard, featuring some of our favorite Pittsburgh juice companies.
Around noon, you can choose between a Barre class with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Yoga with 1.1 Yoga, or a Healthy Ride PGH Public Art Tour. Be sure to double-check the website for any exercise equipment that you may need to bring to your selected class.
You’ll finish the afternoon off with more chances for journaling, indoor cycling, yoga and pilates. During a Yin Yoga with Live Piano class, you’ll hold poses for 3-5 minutes while enjoying the sounds of live classical piano. A pilates class with Verve 360 will take place in the Hall of Sculpture.
Tickets for Self-Care Sunday are available now! Tickets are $40, with discounted rates for members and students. (We highly recommend an annual membership to the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh — it’s at the top of our list for the best museum memberships in Pittsburgh.) Members pay $32 for Self-Care Sunday, and students pay only $25!
