Alright yinz, it’s time to go thrift shoppin, Insta style. It’s always important to support local and these Insta pages are all Pittsburgh based shops run off of the gram. A little bit of clothes, a little bit of home decor, and a lot of Pittsburgh memorabilia.

Rich Finds is an awesome local Pittsburgh thrift account because they not only sell amazing pieces that are on trend but also show you how to style them multiple ways. One of the hardest things about shopping, at least for me, is figuring out what else I have at home that will look cute with the new item. Rich Finds eliminates that problem! You see almost every item on a model which helps you visualize the piece a lot better. The cool thing about this Insta thrift account is they do collection drops as well as individual sales. For example, on January 11th there was a jacket collection drop with a maroon leather jacket, Levi’s denim jacket, denim cinched waist jacket with brown trim, Carhartt bomber, and more! Rich Finds can be purchased directly through Instagram. I asked the owner, Kirby, what she keeps in mind when thrifting and how she decided to start Rich Finds. This is what she said.

“I started Rich Finds just as the covid-Q19 global pandemic started on a whim, with some help from my closest friends. It’s been a whirlwind and I’m hoping to continue to grow. I try to pick pieces that remind me of ‘the old days’ but that also vibe with today’s trends. If I can’t picture the piece in an outfit immediately in my head, then I don’t pick it up. Rich Finds has been an important creative outlet for me and I’m so grateful that people have followed along.”

One way to step up your home decor game is with some uniquely modern vintage items, and Mon Modern is here to help you. This shop has a very authentic feel. A lot of the items are handcrafted like the hand-carved wood bell, handmade figurative clay vessel, and more pictured on their shop’s Instagram. You won’t find an item on this site that isn’t one of a kind. My favorite find is the Vintage 70s Tiny Vase Grouping which is 5 miniature vases connected, perfect for a kitchen corner or a small shelf.

The way the purchases work for this shop is you DM to purchase right on their Instagram page. If the item is up for auction you can offer a bid or offer to pay the “buy it now” price. You’ll want to make sure your notifications are on because these items go quickly with their unique nature.

Calling all Pittsburgh sports fans! Thriftsburgh is your online destination for vintage yinzer apparel. Jackets, crewnecks, and even jerseys can be found on this page. It pains me to say that even if you are a fan of another team you may also be able to find a thing or two here. In the past, we’ve seen things like a Baltimore Ravens leather jacket, a New York Rangers jersey, and a Miami Hurricanes windbreaker. Pricing varies but you can typically find sports t-shirts for around $20-30 and vintage crewnecks from $50-75. If you keep an eye out you can find some deals out of these price ranges as well.

If you aren’t a sports fan but love fun graphic tees and vintage crewnecks, this account checks that box as well! Band tees and Looney Tunes tees are some common finds on Thriftsburgh’s account. If you aren’t happy with the price, there’s an option to make an offer on their site. All items can be purchased online at www.thriftsburgh.shop.

@Westernhoneyvintage

The name says it all. This Insta thrift account focuses on a western vintage vibe. With upcycled and secondhand clothes, Western Honey has a very specific palette when looking at the colors of their items. You’ll find a lot of jean, tans, and natural tones, which is SUCH a vibe. The shop owner, Maria is a popular Pittsburgh Digital Creator who focuses on styling tips and slow fashion so it only makes sense that her thrifting Insta is a hit. When she does a drop it’s typically announced ahead of time and sold out in minutes, so make sure you have your notifications on. Western Honey is awesome to shop with because they show the pieces styled, often with other pieces for sale! That’s a good enough reason to buy multiple things at once, right?? This shop runs its purchases through Etsy! I asked Maria how she got started creating Western Honey Vintage and what drives her passion for thrifting and this is what she said.

“My love for thrifting, vintage, and secondhand shopping started at a young age. My grandmother would take me to a thrift store and then we’d stop at McDonald’s for fries and a Coke afterward. They are my favorite memories with her. That love for sourcing vintage continued into my adulthood, and one day I decided to make a passion into a career!

I took the leap in 2017 and named my online vintage shop Juniper and Honey. The shop was never a main source of income but always provided me with a creative outlet while helping others find affordable secondhand vintage.

In 2020, I got locked out of my Instagram account for Juniper and Honey and decided to re-brand. That’s when Western Honey Vintage was born!

Even though I have a new re-branding, my mission remains the same; to provide myself a creative outlet and a form of self-care, while mixing it with affordable vintage for those around me. Plus there’s something about not knowing what you’re going to find that excites the crap out of me! I’m forever grateful for the people who have supported my tiny dream in any way.”

This Pittsburgh based thrift account brings all the home decor to your Instagram feed. All items are handpicked from around the US to fit the “desert-inspired midcentury modern vintage” vibe of this shop. Staples of any home like mirrors, glassware, and end tables can be found on Peanut Pickers as well as uncommon pieces like a portable typewriter and a londonaire portable pub.
