We’re officially in Pittsburgh’s grey stretch of winter. It’s that time when there isn’t a ton to look forward to, like there was with the holidays, and spring feels forever away. So why not make the cold a little more fun with some new locally knitted and crocheted accessories?! Here are four of our favorite makers keeping you warm this season:
Pittsburgh Crochet Co.
Gracie is a Pitt grad who is crocheting clothing, accessories, and home goods. Her Etsy shop has patterns and pieces that are ready to ship, or you can reach out for custom orders. Follow her on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest.
Atiya Jones
Atiya Jones is a mixed media creator, working with everything from ink drawings to photography to fiber. Which includes, you guessed it, hand knitted wool hats. They’re a bit of an investment but totally worth it – they can be fully wet-blocked for fit if you want. Buy yours in her online shop, and follow on Instagram.
Busy Hook Happy Heart
Terri is the maker behind Busy Hook Happy Heart, and she got hooked (ha!) on crocheting to deal with anxiety while pregnant with her oldest son. You may recognize her work from love, Pittsburgh and Songbird Artistry. Or you can order directly from her website – she offers both ready-to-ship and custom items. Make sure you’re in the know by following her Facebook and Instagram.
SLP.made
At SLP.made, every item is custom made when you order it! You can pick from hats (character or basic), scarves, cowls, photography props…if you can find or draw a picture, you can talk with Sarah to see if she can make it. Pricing varies based on the size of items. Shop on Etsy and follow on Facebook and Instagram.
