Fall could very well be Pittsburgh’s favorite season. The Steelers are playing, the humidity finally drops, and there are more pumpkin treats than you could possibly consume. We’re here to help you get your fall dessert fix! From pumpkin to apple, here are nine of our favorite fall desserts:
If you haven’t heard, Home is one of the new restaurant concepts within Smallman Galley. Their jarred desserts rotate, so keep an eye on their social media accounts…we’re hoping the salted caramel pumpkin pie jar sticks around for a while!
You can’t go wrong with anything from La Gourmandine, but we’re especially excited about their tarte aux pommes. Just look at how gorgeous it is! If a single-serve portion isn’t enough, you can order a larger one or check the bakery on weekends.
The Macaron Bar is opening a new location in East Liberty soon, and we’re hoping it’s in time to get their caramel apple macarons. Because typical macarons aren’t decadent enough! You can also find them at Ross Park Mall in the meantime.
If it’s from Oakmont Bakery, it has to be good, right? Their pumpkin gob (or whoopie pie for non-Pittsburgh natives) is no exception. We *can’t even* with that cream cheese frosting!
If you’re in charge of pies for Thanksgiving, or if you just love pie, you NEED to check out Pie Bird. They even have a pie-of-the-month club for hard-core pie lovers! Find them at events all over the city, or join the club to get a regular pie fix.
Prantl’s might be famous for their burnt almond torte, but they have so much more to offer. Take their pumpkin loaf, for example. Is it dessert? Is it breakfast? We say it’s both!
Of course apple pie had to make the list, and Spork is doing it right! There’s cheddar in the crust, not to mention the salted caramel, huckleberries, and pecan brittle. It’s to pie for!
If you’re like us and drink milkshakes year-round, head to The Milkshake Factory for their pumpkin pie and apple pie milkshakes. Perfect for those Indian-Summer days when you’re wishing for fall…
Insider tip: De Fer is adding a pumpkin and spice waffle to their menu! It will be available until mid-November, and it comes with cinnamon whipped cream and maple syrup from Paul Family Farms. It’s the perfect fall breakfast (and dessert?) to pair with your coffee.
