If you’re not super familiar with Pittsburgh’s Indian food scene, that will change now that Choolaah Indian BBQ is coming to East Liberty on January 26th.

Part fast-casual restaurant, part loft-style museum (seriously, it’s the most photogenic restaurant ever), you can expect flavor-forward dishes and tons of brilliant colors and art. We’re talking original canvas paintings, a mural by local artist Ron Copeland, and even a secret message written in binary code on the walls (free food for a year to whoever cracks it!).

Aside from the art (and did we forget to mention the killer light fixtures?!), you can expect authentic Indian food cooked in a colorful, glass-enclosed kitchen equipped with four huge tandoori ovens. Plus, they source their cheese from an Amish farm in PA, so you know it’s good.

Our editor along with one of our awesome food contributors (s/o @PittsburghPlates) were blessed to try a spread of options, like a variety of masalas and chicken and rice. While we had a hard time deciding on a favorite, we landed on the vegetable masala.

Tip: Cancel any plans you have January 25th. Starting at 9pm you can camp out to be one of the first 100 customers, winning you the glorious prize of free food for a year.
