Main Street Meals

Main Street Meals was created by the founder of Gather to serve food insecure families challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic. Working with the staff and volunteers at the Sewickley Valley YMCA and the Union Aid Society, Main Street Meals distributed 600 family food boxes from April 10th through June 13th. They raised over $31,000 in just 10 weeks! With the help of Don Mahaney at Scratch F & B, Main Street Meals was able to purchase produce, dairy, meat, pasta, bread, household supplies, and personal care items at wholesale cost for each Saturday’s Family Food Box. As part of the boxes home bakers were asked to make homemade goods and they responded by baking over 700 dozen/loaves of baked goods in 9 weeks. The final weekly Family Food Box was delivered on Saturday, June 13th, but it is the hope of Gather’s founder to offer seasonal and holiday Family Food Boxes moving forward.
