OpenStreetsPGH

South Side Pittsburgh Events

OpenStreetsPGH offers citywide events that take place once a month in May, June, and July. Miles of streets in Pittsburgh are temporarily closed for a day each month to create routes that allow foot traffic and cyclists to explore the city. In the South Side, East Carson Street will open its doors and historic street to OpenStreetsPGH on Sunday, July 28th, for the route that includes Downtown-Uptown and South Side. This motorized vehicle-free event is also free to attend, and it includes activities, workshops, live music, and specials at many of the participating local businesses. The goal of OpenStreetsPGH events is to foster a sense of community among the people of Pittsburgh, so you are welcome to walk, run, skate, bike, or rollerblade freely along East Carson Street while you enjoy a variety of featured neighborhood activities.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

Our city’s professional soccer team, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, have a jam-packed summer schedule of games for the sports fans out there. The Riverhounds play in the Highmark Stadium and have regular season games from March-October, available to view in an online schedule. You can purchase individual tickets starting at just $14 a game, as well as season and group tickets. Riverhounds’ games are an excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon with your friends, or you can get a group together from work or another organization that you belong to—you can even tailgate together in the parking lot before the game. They also have a killer promotional calendar with themed and sponsored nights partnering with different organizations. Did we mention that there’s even a $1 beer special that runs prior to the game until kickoff? Maybe we should have led with that, but now that you know, don’t miss out on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC games this summer!
