Just when we thought we might make it through the winter months without plunging temperatures, boom! It happened. It’s officially freezing and as upsetting as that might be for those who prefer warmer weather (like me); we are lucky to live in a city like Pittsburgh. There is always something fun happening, in and all around the city. Now that outside activities are limited, we need to become more creative on how to beat the winter blues. Trax Farms of Finleyville makes that a little bit easier for us.
The Trax Farms Winter Wine Festival is right around the corner. On Saturday, February 22nd plan to spend your afternoon with different wineries, food trucks and live entertainment. Tickets include unlimited wine samples, access to food trucks, (cost of food not included with admissions) and entertainment brought to you by the Roger Barbour Band. Wineries will provide sample cups and wine glasses can be purchased at the festival if you prefer to be fancy! A portion of these proceeds will benefit the Finleyville Food Pantry. This is a 21+ event.
If you can’t make the wine festival, not to fear. Trax Farms offers many other attractions throughout the winter that are well worth the ride. Head to The Arrowhead Wine Shop which offers over 30 different types of wine which are all available for samples. Something tells me you’ll be leaving with a bottle or two to share with friends.
If you’re not a wine drinker, Trax is also home to a Craft Beer Shop. Pick up your favorite craft beer in singles and six-packs or try something new with their mix-n-match packs. Arsenal Cider House is open Friday – Sunday 12 pm – 6 pm. This local U.S. Civil War thematic winery specializing in small-batch, handcrafted hard apple cider, “cider style” fruit/grape wines, & mead. You can purchase a growler to enjoy at the farm or take it home to share. Bringing your own growler to be filled is also an option.
Besides the vast selections of libations, Trax Farms offers much more during these colder days. Trax is your one-stop-shop with a deli, bakery and grocery store. Stop in for some hot soup, a delicious sandwich, pepperoni rolls and some yummy cherry pie. Pick up your weekly groceries and enjoy their fresh produce. You won’t want to skip out on this!
With Valentine’s Day near, take advantage of their indoor plant sale. 20% off indoor plants from February 8th to the 16th. While you’re at it, spoil your Valentine with a bottle of wine and some Sarris Chocolates.
No matter what time of year you head to Trax Farms, there is always something for anyone to enjoy. Especially when you’re trying to beat the winter blues.
