We’re always on the hunt for a great taqueria in the city. Tocayo is known for its unique tacos and flavorful Mexican cuisines. This isn’t just one of our favorite taco joints — it’s a favorite Pittsburgh restaurant, period.

For the Love of Tacos

First, let’s talk about the tacos at Tocayo. You can order two of a kind with a side of soup or salad, but you may want to mix and match so you can try out some of their unique offerings.

The chicken chorizo with queso Oaxaca and citrus mix puts most other chicken tacos to shame. For a spicy bite, the Al Pastor taco comes with pork shoulder, habanero pineapple salsa, and cilantro. Veggie lovers may want to try to the cauliflower and portobello taco, or even the beet taco with chile ancho and queso fresco. One of their most unique dishes, the octopus taco comes with mango habanero salsa and Chile de árboll.

Like any great taqueria, Tocayo makes fresh guacamole that can’t be beat. They also have several salsa options that come in orders of two so you can try out of a few options ranging from mild to hot.

At Tocayo, the nachos are piled high with fresh veggies, cheese, sour cream, and your choice of protein. Plus they have a cheesy fondue, also known as the Queso Fundido, that’s stuffed with chorizo, roasted poblanos and salsa.

The Cantina

Whether you’re getting a margarita with your meal or just stopping by Walnut Street for a drink, Tocayo has several cocktails that are fresh and citrusy. The Spicy Watermelon cocktail comes with fresh watermelon, jalapenos, lime juice, and orange liqueur. For the best of both worlds, the Sangria Margarita includes lime margarita over red sangria. And you can try a Mexican Mojito in three different flavors — original, mango or strawberry.

Right now, Tocayo cocktails are available for take out! Your cocktail will come in a 24 oz. container with a maximum of 64 oz. per order.
