The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are one of our favorite sports teams in the city of champions, where we’re already spoiled by a ton of awesome teams to root for! If you’re headed down to Station Square to enjoy a game this season, check out some of our favorite picks for pregaming the match with some tasty food and exciting drinks:

Tupelo Honey

Station Square

Tupelo Honey is still pretty new to the city, but this Station Square spot is serving up southern food and drinks that are irresistibly craveable before a big game! Expect to find scratch-made classics like chicken and waffles as well as shrimp and grits, smothered chicken and cast-iron pork along with signature cocktails, wine and beer – and a great happy hour for those weekday games!

Homerun Harry’s

Station Square

A classic of Station Square, Homerun Harry’s is a quintessential sports bar with tons of entertainment and specials to enjoy before heading to the pitch. Bar favorites like burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, hoagies and appetizers are on the menu alongside tons of beers on draft. It’s also open late if you want to celebrate a win (or commiserate over a loss) over a brew or two!

Redbeard’s Bar and Grill

Mt. Washington

Ordinarily, we’d suggest taking the Mon Incline up to Mt. Washington to enjoy some tasty appetizers and happy hour drinks at Redbeard’s Bar and Grill, but we know it’s going to be closed until mid-November 2022… Good thing it’s just a short shuttle ride up the hill! It’s totally worth it, too – Redbeard’s boasts sizable beers, a wide menu of delicious pregame meals and is just a block away from one of the best views in Pittsburgh. Bring your out-of-town friends when they visit for a game!

City Works

Market Square

Sure, Market Square is a bit of a hike from Highmark Stadium, but it’s a beautiful walk on a nice night before a big game! Just cross the Smithfield Street Bridge after your meal and you’ll be back in Station Square. At City Works, try their wide menu of beers on draft as well as cocktails (and mocktails, like the one seen above!) and plenty of sharables and bar bites to make the walk worth it.

Highmark Stadium

Station Square

Wanna keep things simple and fun? Just pregame at the game! The Riverhounds host a food truck at every match in their tailgate zone, and you can also pick up drool-worthy food items at the Highmark Stadium pub, like the all-new “Yinzer-Kabob” with pierogies, kielbasa and haluski!

The Hounds also recently announced a partnership with Narcisi Winery to serve their locally-made wines as the official winery of the Riverhounds, so whether you want a classic cold one or a chilled glass of vino to sip on before the game, you can drink up at the stadium.
