We’re all mad in Pittsburgh!! As many of you probably know, there are several locations around the Burgh that become home to pop-up bars year-round. One of these locations is on Liberty Avenue and is the current host of the one and only, Alice Immersive Cocktail Experience! This truly unique experience is based upon the iconic film, Alice in Wonderland. As a 21+ experience, you can be sure to enjoy cocktails and adult humor alike in a one-of-a-kind environment.

This pop-up bar will only be in Pittsburgh until October 3rd and tickets sell out fast for each session. Make it a one on one affair or invite all of your friends for an afternoon full of fun! When you enter the pop-up bar, you’ll have your temperature taken and be asked to mask up while being escorted to your group’s table. It’s always important to be safe while in a small space. Thankfully the capacity is limited based on the number of tickets purchased for each session. As you are walked to your table, you will also be asked about any allergies or dietary restrictions, all in magical wonderland fashion of course!

Each session lasts an hour and a half and involves all the craziness the world of wonderland would. You are greeted with a sweet shooter topped with whipped cream. This is the perfect way to kick off the pre-party. After all of the party guests have arrived, the Mad Hatter and March Hare begin the show! Each table is assigned a symbol and is presented with three unique riddles for the riddle scavenger hunt. During this portion of the experience, you will find yourselves wandering about the party from the wonderland garden, to the depths of where the Cheshire Cat lives. Each stop comes with a new riddle and a new prize to be found for every riddle your group has solved. One of the riddles even involves little figurines. Without spilling the tea on what the prizes combine to make, you are certainly in for an extra special treat!

The next part of the experience begins with a special visit from the one and only Queen of Hearts! This fickle and ill-tempered lady is on quite the hunt to find the one person guilty of stealing her precious jam-tarts. After accusations and trials have been completed, with assistance from her royal judge, you’ll find many guests have LOST THEIR HEADS! Thankfully there’s an opportunity to prove yourself to the queen afterward….

Each guest of the tea party is served a delightfully pink cocktail topped with a frothy foam. You are tasked with creating the best painting atop the drink, using a paintbrush and chocolate syrup. This is a daunting task indeed! The Queen of Hearts then goes around the room taking in all of the talents, or lack thereof, and decides on the winner. This lucky attendee is rewarded with a token to redeem one of the wonderland shooters from the bar after the completion of the tea party.

At this point, you are free to wander around and take photos in all of the areas of wonderland! Head to the mushroom garden, the keyhole entrance, or back to the hidden spot of the Cheshire Cat for the best photo opportunities. During this time you are also able to purchase $10 shooters from the bar. The options include the Some Kind of Mushroom (peanut butter whiskey, black walnut bitters, simple), the Jam Tart Shot (Bailey’s and Chambord), the Things Have Gone A-Rye (rye whiskey, strawberry syrup, rhubarb bitters), the Unbirthday Shot (Bailey’s, vodka, vanilla), and last but not least the TweedleDee & Tweedle-Rum (spiced rum, Falernum, simple). Certainly, these shooters will prepare you for a great rest of the day. Pay attention to the clocks though, you’ll only have about 20 minutes to get your photos and shooters before you must depart, so be sure to make haste!

We’ve all learned from the White Rabbit how inconvenient running late can be. So be sure to mark your calendars for this VERY important date, and be sure to not come late! Parties that arrive 20 minutes after the start time will be asked to reschedule. Now get ready to spend time crafting cocktails, creating art, solving riddles, and having fun with some of the most beloved characters of wonderland (with a little adult spin).
