With the crazy ups and downs of the Pittsburgh weather from rain to shine to snow, it’s important to keep your immune system supported! One natural way of doing this is by loading up on vitamins and healthy foods during this flu season. Luckily, Pittsburgh is home to several local juice bars and some beloved larger juice companies that have locations in our little city. These spots are some of our favorites for picking up a couple of bottles of cold-pressed juice, or some immunity and wellness shots!
1:11 Juice Bar & Eatery
This juicery is by far one of the coolest businesses in Pittsburgh. With its flagship location on East Carson Street next to Southside Works, 1:11 Juice is a lively spot for snagging unique bites and of course, cold-pressed juice! Here you will find classic juices like orange and apple and not made like your typical grocery store-style juice. Their orange juice is made with oranges, gala apples, and lemons for a fun zesty take on a classic. Where 1:11 Juice sets itself apart is not only with its colorful and uniquely fun flavors (like its bright blue, nutrient-rich Nipsey Blue), but the fun environment the store offers. By following their social pages you might see a DJ spinning tracks on a sunny day, or a mini basketball hoop set up inside! Grab a tasty Nipsey Blue, a combo of pineapple, apple, spirulina, lemon, and lime, and hang out with the crew! If you prefer your organic juice in shots rather than full juices, 1:11 Juice also presses juice shots like Immunity Boost (ginger and orange), Wellness (turmeric and orange), and their two flavor variations of Kickstart (one beet based and one spinach based). If you can’t make it to Southside Works, 1:11 Juice has a new location in One Oxford Centre on the second floor. Pittsburgh Juice Company
A Pittsburgh staple in the juice community is Pittsburgh Juice Company. Whether you’ve seen it bottled for sale at your local coffee shop, or you’ve visited their location nestled between the Strip District and Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh Juice Company can be found all around the city. With countless elixirs packed with healthy ingredients, Pittsburgh Juice will give you the extra immunity boost you need to help fight the ever-changing weather! This woman-owned business focuses on sustainability and wholesome, unprocessed, plant-based foods to create their organic raw juices. Some of our favorite juices are the Turmeric Lemonade (turmeric, lemon, orange, and black pepper infused water), Berry Watermelon (watermelon and strawberry), and Vitamin Sea (pineapple, cucumber, and Blue Majik). Pittsburgh Juice also has a plethora of wellness shots that can be sipped by themselves, or mixed in with a glass of water. Some that are great for immune health are the Supernova Wellness shot and the Turmeric Tonic Wellness shot. Juices are pressed daily!
Moodz Co.
If you’re someone who frequently travels to Southside via the Birmingham Bridge, you may recognize this vegan juice bar. Moodz Co. is located right at the end of the Birmingham Bridge when you cross over to East Carson Street. As a 100% vegan juice bar, this spot will knock your socks off with zero-added sugar smoothies and juices made with fresh never frozen products. Their Last Call juice is super unique with its ingredients being chia seeds, pear, blueberry, blackberry, and pomegranate. Talk about a flavor explosion! Another crowd favorite is the Johnny Apple which is made with gala, Granny Smith, Fuji, and honey crisp apples, plus sea moss for added health benefits. Looking for a midweek pick-me-up? On Wednesdays from 3-5 pm, bring a friend and you both can get 15% off your purchase at Moodz Co.! Want a tasty start to the weekend? Clean Juice
One beloved chain that has locations all around the city is Clean Juice. You can find franchise locations of Clean Juice locations in East Liberty, Wexford, Cranberry, and McMurray. Clean Juice, as the name suggests, prides itself on being a healthy and clean reset. At any location, you can enjoy cold-pressed bottled juices as well as fresh juices made on the spot and served in a to-go cup! Two of their fresh juices that we love are The Immunity One (carrot, lemon, orange, pineapple, and turmeric) and The Protection One (cucumber, pineapple, and spinach). For their bottled juices, Yellow and Pink are by far our favorites. Yellow almost has the taste of a spicy skinny Margarita with the ingredients being filtered water, lemon, maple syrup, and cayenne, PLUS it’s healthy for you! Clean Juice also sells a small number of wellness shots including Immune Booster and Elderberry, YUM!
