Revel is serving up something new at its Downtown Pittsburgh restaurant. In addition to the usual warm vibe and delicious faire, diners will be treated to a dynamic and evolving art series displayed on a video wall that will spotlight a different local artist each month. Digital marketing coordinator, Alexia Embelton, said that this On the Wall Video Showcase emerged out of a desire to “shake things up a bit.”

“Revel is all about creating a vibrant, dynamic space,” explained Embelton. “We realized that we had this fantastic, vast wall just begging for some attention and thought, ‘Why not turn it into a platform for local artists?’”
Kicking off the series is multimedia artist and educator at Zart Studios, Sarah Zeffiro, whose collection will run through the month of March. She plans each new painting by drawing it out and then draws it again on a larger scale (like a 45-foot by 15-foot mural) and adds color.

“Sarah’s work is just mesmerizing,” Embleton said. “Her use of light and color is incredible, and she has a real knack for capturing these almost dream-like scenes with abstract details. Looking at her pieces, you can see this playful, almost whimsical energy. I hope that people will really take a moment to get lost in her pieces, to see the subtle details and feel the emotions she conveys. It’s also really cool to see how the digital aspect of her art changes the entire feel of the wall.”
To further connect guests to the video installation, Revel is offering a Signature On the Wall cocktail that will change every month to reflect the mood, colors and themes of the featured artist. Zeffiro’s bright and bold artwork inspired the Strawberry Smash — a cocktail made with Bulleit rye, simple syrup, lemon juice, muddled strawberries and mint.
“Who doesn’t love a good art show with a cocktail?” said Embleton.

And the lineup of upcoming artists looks as strong as the drinks.
“While I don’t want to give away all of the surprises, I can tell you we’re bringing in a fantastic mix,” Embleton said. “Think vibrant, eye-catching work like Caroline Heckman (@carlwheezybaby), the incredibly detailed and imaginative pieces from Joshua Criswell (@crozzdraws), and the stunning, evocative art of Mia Tarducci (@miatarducci). We’re aiming for a broad spectrum, showcasing everyone from established artists to rising stars straight out of art school, and those hidden gems that just deserve a platform. We’re always on the hunt for fresh talent, so definitely stay tuned for more!”
Located on the first floor of the Hilton Garden Inn at 242 Forbes Avenue, Revel is just steps from Market Square. The restaurant offers drink and $10 bar bite specials during its Happy Hours (Mondays – Fridays 3pm – 6pm and 8pm – 10pm, Saturdays from 3pm – 5pm, and Sundays from 12pm – 5pm). You also won’t want to miss their weekend brunch menu, served Saturdays and Sundays from 7am – 12pm. For more information on featured artists and upcoming installations, visit revelpgh.com.
