As the Fall Season is in full swing, we have become fully engulfed in our Fall traditions; pumpkin picking at Sorgel’s Orchard, hikes along the Three Rivers and the endless parade of Halloween parties.
Yet one tradition always starts much earlier than all the rest – the commencing of the PSL: the pumpkin spice latte.
Before I moved home to Pittsburgh and was living in NYC, the PSL was a staple to college girls and gay men alike, and I couldn’t stand it. Black with no room did perfectly fine for me.
However, as we get older and wiser, I am trying to embrace my inner fall-goddess and embrace the majesty of this drink, especially with the offerings of the city of Pittsburgh.
Crazy Mocha
Just like Starbucks, you can’t go many city blocks in Pittsburgh without seeing a Crazy Mocha shop. Known for their vast assortment, Crazy Mocha does in fact offer a PSL option with Ghirardelli sauce flavoring, so if a sweet tooth is in your future this will be by far the best option.
Adda Coffee House
Although their version of the infamous PSL might be slightly different, the Ginger Tumeric Coffee offers a natural flavoring to this fall drink.
Zeke’s Coffee
One of the things I cannot stand about a PSL is the blast of flavor. Zeke’s in East Liberty has perfected the creamy ease of The PSL with their blend from Philips Pumpkin Spice Sauce.
61C Cafe
If you have the mindset of “be let be” when it comes to your PSL, 61C Cafe switches between Torani, Monin and house-blend syrups for their PSL’s, so each day might have a different flavor than the last.
Arriviste Coffee
If you are just a Fall lover in general, the Canadian Bacon option at Arriviste Coffee will surely make you happy and content for the Fall and Winter months. Not quite a PSL, but still gives the warm, fuzzy feeling.
