Did you know National Pickle Day was on November 14? If you missed it, don’t worry. There’s really never a *bad* time to celebrate pickles! Here are three ways you can enjoy pickles:

Buy local pickles.

Yeah, this one is kind of obvious. But Pittsburgh is home to some really delicious pickles! Check out places Pittsburgh Pickle Company and newcomer Bridge City Brinery for all of your pickle needs. We also like shopping farmers markets, winter markets, and local stores, like in the Strip District, to see what other pickles we can find! We always have an extra jar in our pantry so we’re never without…and pickles make great gifts.

Get pickles with your takeout.

Fried pickles with ranch? Yes, please! We love ordering from restaurants like Dive Bar, Il Tetto, and The Library for our fried pickle fix. If we’re in the mood for regular pickles you can find us picking up from somewhere like Carson Street Deli, where you get a pickle with your sandwich. Sometimes we don’t want to eat actual pickles, so we’ll get some Dill Pickle popcorn from The Pittsburgh Popcorn Company (not quite takeout, but it’s still a fun treat!). Or, if we’re lucky enough, maybe we’ll drink a pickle beer from East End – although they’re not currently available.

Visit the world’s largest pickle ornament.

We think taking a holiday photo in front of the world’s largest pickle ornament is such a fun way to celebrate both the holidays and pickles. And we’ll probably get some takeout on our way home after 😉

Want to make an even bigger dill about pickles? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.) The Heinz History Center is a fun way to spend a few hours once stay at home orders are lifted. And you can always browse the Picklesburgh website and Instagram for a ton of pickle ideas! Everything from pickle vendors to local makers selling pickle-themed goods.
