A new Brazilian restaurant has found its way to Highland Park. If you spend any time at Highland Park’s Bryant Street, you’ll know that there’s a lot packed into a few square blocks, including several notable restaurants all in pretty close proximity to each other. Casa Brazil is another to add to the list!

Casa Brazil is a pop-up shop nestled into Bryant Street in a cozy, renovated house. It’s a relatively small space compared to other eateries, but with Brazilian decor and a warm vibe, the space feels intimate and homey. There’s also a nice patio for outdoor seating this summer.

Let’s talk food. For authentic Brazilian food and drinks, this is the place. You definitely need to try the feijoada, a Brazilian black bean stew that’s served with rice. This staple comes with several of the main dishes. Another favorite is pão de queijo. Get these little cheese rolls as an appetizer for the table.

The menu at Casa Brazil is very versatile with a lot of chicken, steak and fish main dishes, as well as gluten-free and vegan options.

The dessert menu is worth checking out. The mousse de maracujá, or passion fruit mousse, is light and fluffy and served in a cute coffee cup.

Because the restaurant isn’t very big, the tables don’t turn over too quickly. During the weeknights, Casa Brazil opens at 5:30 p.m., so you may want to get there early if you don’t want to wait in the foyer. Alternatively, if you have a party of 5-12 people, you can make a reservation online.
As a pop-up restaurant, Casa Brazil is scheduled to be in their location on Bryant Street through September 2019. Be sure to stop by — or order to go — while they’re open!
