With so many eateries opening in Pittsburgh, it’s easy to get caught up in trying them all. But while everyone is waiting for reservations at Morcilla (totally worth it), we suggest you try some equally awesome, but easy to overlook spots.

Casellula

*Closed* A wine and cheese restaurant could easily be intimidating, but Casellula manages to make you feel at home (if you have a bunch of delicious cheese at home, that is). The less-adventurous cheese lovers shouldn’t be worried – they will happily accommodate requests for less funky boards.

Pigeon Bagel

2017 was the year of the pop-up, and Pigeon Bagel took the concept and made it their own. Long story short, we’re totally obsessed with these sweet, soft bagels. They might not have their own storefront, but check their website for their daily locations and use your love for carbs as an excuse to explore the city.

350º Bakery

Restaurant You Aren't Visiting Enough

So, 350º Bakery might not be an actual restaurant, but their desserts are to die for. You can find them at local restaurants or order off their website to pick up from the kitchen. They’re planning a storefront in the spring, so stay tuned – and order a cheesecake while you wait!

DiAnoia’s

DiAnoia’s via Yelp

DiAnoia’s is doing Italian food right! That means homemade Italian classics, like gnocchi and pizza. They even sell house-made wine by the carafe, just like in Italy. And don’t get us started on their pastries…

Barrel Junction

If you’re willing to take a quick drive north of the city, check out Barrel Junction. If they can make a chicken salad taste good (no offense, salads) then you know it’s worth the drive to the ‘burbs!

Smallman Galley

Everyone’s talking about the latest group of chefs at Smallman Galley, and for good reason. It’s hard to pick just one restaurant to order from, so we recommend going with friends and trying some of everything. Or plan on leftovers! Not to mention, they just changed their cocktail menu. New year, new drinks.

Revel + Roost

Via Roost
Roost

Did you know Revel + Roost is actually two restaurants in one building? They make everything completely from scratch, despite having separate menus. Downstairs, Revel is a sophisticated lounge serving twists on American cuisine. Upstairs, Roost is more upscale and indulgent. Both are totally worth visiting!
