It’s the holiday season and South Side is kicking-off the wintry fun with a brand new event, South Side Winterfest on Saturday, December 6th from 3pm – 7pm in Bedford Square, Esser Plaza, and 12th Street.
This event is a delightful wintry-mix of live music, kids activities, a holiday market, festive drinks, food trucks, a tree lighting, luminaria lighting, and a “Santa Lounge” at Club Cafe where you can capture a free photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Experience plenty of winter fun with the best of the South Side neighborhood all in one place. Live music starts at 3pm, courtesy of Club Cafe. South Side Market plays host to the Holiday Market of local artists, makers, and bakers. Also, South Side Kids will be hosting a craft station and artists from Brew House Arts will offer artful snowflake making.

Tour the tastes of the South Side without ever leaving Winterfest with beverage vendors like Velum Fermentation’s 21+ beer garden and food from La Palapa, Cilantro & Ajo, Standing Wave Coffee, Doce Tacqueria, Streets on Carson, and more.

“We’re so excited to kick off a new holiday tradition right here in our neighborhood,” says East Carson Street Business District Manager Susan Anderson. “The South Side is full of incredible businesses, artists, and an amazing community that truly brings this area to life.”
The highlight of the night comes around 6:30pm when the Holiday Tree lights up in Esser Plaza and the neighborhood lights the luminaria around Bedford Square.
Wear a festive holiday outfit, ugly sweater, or Santa gear because the best dressed guest will receive $500 in prizes from South Side shops and restaurants! Also, be sure to embrace the spirit of giving by bringing a new unwrapped toy to donate to the Best of the Batch Foundation.
The festival ends at 7pm, but the festival fun continues until 10pm with a “Santa Stroll” on East Carson Street. Visit participating businesses for special discounts, samples, giveaways, and more as you dive into the holiday season.

The spirit of connection, creativity, and celebration will be on full display at South Side Winterfest. For additional information, a digital map of the Santa Stroll, and more, visit carsonstreetpgh.com.
