On Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, Crunch Fitness locations nationwide, including on McKnight Road, will honor those who lost their lives during 9/11 by challenging their staff and gym members to climb 110 flights of stairs. This event is hosted in remembrance of the 110 floors of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and aims to bring the communities together on a day dedicated to honor and remembrance.

This annual event at Crunch Fitness is open to the community, and participants can use the Stairmaster machines at the gym to climb those 110 flights (or 2,071 steps). Participants at all fitness levels are encouraged to attend and can choose their level of involvement, such as climbing a single flight of stairs or completing the full 110-story challenge.

Nationwide, firefighters who typically attend are dressed in full gear as they participate. This tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of the FDNY, but also recognizes the efforts our local fire departments make on a daily basis.

“We believe it’s essential to remember and pay tribute to the heroes who responded on September 11, 2001,” said Brian Hibbard, CEO of Fitness Ventures. “By organizing the 9/11 Remembrance Stair Climb Challenge at all of our clubs, we want to provide an opportunity for our members and communities to come together in unity and show our gratitude to these courageous individuals.”

Participants will receive a free one-week membership to Crunch Fitness.

Date: Wednesday, September 11th, 2024

Participants are welcome to complete the challenge any time between 7am – 9pm.

Location: Crunch Fitness at 8050 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237
