Joan Jett is headlining Pittsburgh Light Up Night! The legendary rock and roll performer will hit the stage as the city lights up on November 19th. You’ll be in the Christmas spirit, complete with the tree lighting, ice skating, beer garden, shopping, fireworks, and live music! Here’s 5 things to know!
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts performing live!
Joan Jett and the Black Hearts will perform at 8:30pm on the XFinity Riverside Stage (Ft. Duquesne Boulevard & 6th Street). Best known for her hits “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” and “I Hate Myself for Loving You”, it is sure to be a great show. Fireworks will follow the show. The lineup also includes the Mr. Smalls All Star Rolling Stones tribute 6:30pm-7:45pm.
Tree Lighting
The Highmark Christmas Tree lighting is at 6pm at the Highmark Main Stage (Stanwix Street & Penn Avenue), which includes Zambelli rooftop fireworks. Joe Grusheky will be playing 5pm-6pm and 6:20pm-6:50pm.
Ice Skating at the UPMC Rink
One of the best parts of being downtown during Christmas time is the ice rink at PPG Place. It’s always fun to see the tree and go for a skate. If you want to venture out on the ice, be prepared to wait in a long line. You can reserve your ticket here.
Beer Garden
For those looking to drink up the Christmas cheer (it also keeps you warm!) head over to the Beer Garden near the Cultural District Stage (8th Street & Penn Avenue) 2pm-9:30pm, featuring Brew Gentlemen and Specialty Cocktails too.
Market Square Holiday Market
All the shopping in the square will be open and ready for the season. It’s a very populated area during the night. If you’re looking for unique gifts that are international and local, you’ll want to check it out. They will have more vendors than ever this year!
