The Lunar Gala fashion show will hit the runway on Saturday, March 22nd at Carnegie Mellon’s Wiegand Gym! Over the years, the Lunar Gala has become the largest fashion event in Pennsylvania and “showcases brilliant artistry in design, modeling, and production, and dance performance.”
Run by CMU students, this annual fashion show sells out every year. The beloved show is a “unique platform to display innovative and avant garde fashion.”

The show was established in 1996, inspired by the “Taiwanese Student Association’s Lunar New Year tradition of wearing new clothes.” Each year, students from CMU have the opportunity to work with professional designers for the show.
There’s a different theme each year, last year being Liminal. Since 2025 is the year of the snake, the theme is Elysium—a vision of paradise.

“This year’s show embodies themes of rebirth, fluidity, and innovation.” It’s going to be so cool to see what each student comes up with. They’ll be working with the best creatives in the industry.
“Our designers are among the top emerging creatives in the nation, pushing the boundaries of fashion with their bold and visionary work.”

It keeps getting better with each annual event. “Each year, our designers, models, dancers, and production team redefine what student-led fashion can achieve.”
