Come hungry to the 11th annual Hometown-Homegrown™ food festival at Heinz History Center (1212 Smallman St.) on Saturday, November 2nd from 10am – 3pm!

Presented by Heinz History Center in partnership with GoodTaste! Pittsburgh®, the event attracts hundreds of locals for a slew of tasty activities.

More than 35 local food and drink vendors will be at the History Center to share delicious samples of their food and drinks, featuring long-time Pittsburgh staples like Isaly’s, Pittsburgh Pickle, and Wholey’s to emerging businesses such as Evanly Bakes and Mezclado Sauce Co.

As part of the event, visitors can enjoy an exciting slate of cooking demonstrations with some of the city’s finest culinary experts, along with artisan talks by local specialty vendors.

Cooking Demonstrations

  • 10:30am: “The Great American Recipe” (PBS show) dishes with Doug Heilman, host of Pittsburgh Dish Podcast
  • 12:00pm: Cheese etiquette with Nosh & Curd
  • 1:30pm: Introduction to fancy mushrooms with Bounty Beneath Mushrooms

Artisan Talks

  • 11:30am: Honoring your knife skills with Pittsburgh Community Kitchen
  • 2:00pm: Making Greek tzatziki with Salonika

More To See at Heinz History Center

During your visit, take a stroll around the museum with over six floors showcasing Western Pennsylvania’s history and culinary education. Each ticket includes access to all History Center exhibitions, including A Woman’s Place: How Women Shaped Pittsburgh, which features women-owned food businesses and Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life.

The Detre Library & Archives will showcase its historic cookbook collection and distribute special recipe cards to visitors.

Hometown-Homegrown™ Tickets

You don’t want to miss one of the biggest events in town that celebrates Pittsburgh’s passion for food!

Tickets to Hometown-Homegrown™, including food samples and activities, are included with regular History Center admission and are free for History Center members. Purchase tickets here in advance, or at the door, while supplies last.

  • Adults (18-64): $20
  • Seniors (65+): $18
  • Students (with valid ID): $11
  • Kids 17 and under receive free admission, thanks to support from community partners UPMC and UPMC Health Plan.
