Before we begin, let me begin by clarifying – if you have been living under a rock since 2015, then you might not have heard about this, you know, small production called Hamilton – created by a guy called Lin-Manuel Miranda and that produced an astonishing amount of award nominations and wins since debuting on Broadway.

Well, boys and girls, brace yourself.  Because this Tony and Grammy Award winning show is about to take Pittsburgh by storm.  Yes, you didn’t flinch or read this incorrectly – Hamilton is coming to Pittsburgh in 2019.

And, the best part is?  You don’t have to wait long at all for it to come.  From Tuesday, January 1st through Sunday, January 27th, 2019, the touring production of Hamilton will be staged in Pittsburgh at The Benedum Center.

As if that hysteria wasn’t enough for you – if you are one of the lucky few that was able to score tickets to the show, you know that didn’t go without drama.  Many die-hard fans lined the streets surrounding The Benedum Center in order to score tickets; others, who weren’t as fortunate to get the tickets then and there, were entered into a lottery – filled with tens of thousands of other hopeful patrons.

Now, a little backstory on this famed musical – Hamilton, according to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, is “Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary”.

The music is as, if not more famous than the show, which blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, leaving viewers begging and pleading for more.

Hamilton will be staged at The Benedum Center from Tuesday, January 1st through Sunday, January 27th, 2019.  To get tickets, please visit www.trustarts.org for more details.
