Between back-to-school and dorm move-ins to celebrating the last days of summer, here are five things happening in August and beyond that are a must-attend:

Summer PAARty

Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) is celebrating 50 years of service and has teamed up with Square Café for a celebration that will connect and inspire on Thursday, August 18th from 5pm-8pm. Guests can expect light bites from Square Café, a complementary signature cocktail, and the sounds of Selecta for a required $50 donation. The event is designed for guests to celebrate one of the country’s oldest crisis centers while providing an opportunity to connect with PAAR staff and board members as well as members of the community that continue to uplift the work of the organization. Square Café will also be donating a percentage of all August sales at the East Liberty café to PAAR.

Barrel & Flow Fest

Barrel and Flow Fest is a week-long celebration of black excellence mixed with arts, music, food and brews galore. As part of the fest, there will be 30 Black-owned breweries, five DJs, seven bands, 150 vendors, two live artist visual stages, and 55 unique collab brews. Start your flow at Brew Gentleman Steel Garden and expect some other free, hosted events at Dancing Gnome, Trace Brewing along with the Barrel & Flow Festival kicking off at a new location this year, The Stacks at 3 Crossing in the Strip District. Hidden Cinema Pittsburgh

More than just the movies, relax and bask with the big screen of favorite pop-culture classic movies. Pittsburgh Restaurant Week

Starting now, enjoy local deals with participating restaurants until August 14, with many places extended until August 21. Savor and enjoy curated plates and bites from places like Emporio: A Meatball Joint, Scratch & Co., Revival on Lincoln, LeMont Pittsburgh, Sushi Tomo, Paris 66, Mitchell’s Fish Market and many more to spice up dinner this week. Asian Lantern Festival and Elephant Day

Starting August 12th, the Asian Lantern Festival will be back in action with life-like displays of moving animals that will be fun for the entire family! Plus, be on the lookout for new features including dinosaurs and extinct animals to wander in awe this year. On August 14th, celebrate Elephant Day at the zoo with the event including crafts, fun elephant facts and a very special elephant enrichment.
