Calling all book lovers! The Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books is Saturday, May 31st (10am – 5pm) at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Oakland. The event is free and for all ages! What a novel idea!

Every reader knows how much a favorite new book means to them. It’s like being in on a secret that the rest of the world doesn’t know about it. What’s great about the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books is that you can be in an inspiring atmosphere with other book fans.

What to Expect at the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books

The fourth annual event features a packed lineup of local and national authors, panels, poetry readings, and food trucks. Before you go, you can view and download the complete schedule.

Local and National Authors

Headlining authors will be speaking throughout the day. This is a unique opportunity to hear about authors talking about their books. You can also ask them questions and even have them sign a copy of their book.

Panels

The panels have a mix of topics that appeal to both readers and writers. Some panels include: “Building Community Through Books: Starting a Book Club That Empowers Women & Supports Local Business,” “Where Fantasy, Magic, and Mystery Combine: YA Mysteries and Thrillers,” “Minding the Mundane: Finding Creative Inspiration in Everyday Life,” and so many more!

Exhibitors and Poetry

There’s also a number of exhibitors: bookstores, comic shops, publishers, literary groups.

You can also hear poetry throughout the entire day at the poetry tent. Every 15 minutes, a new poet hits the stage. It’s a cool way to discover your new favorite writer. It’s also a powerful experience to hear the words spoken out loud in a group setting.

Children’s Literature and Activities

For the kids, they’ll have children’s literature authors and hands-on activities (book making, puppet shows, story time sessions).
