This week marks the official end of summer and as we switch out our bathing suit tops for scarves we have a full roundup of free fall events held at parks throughout Allegheny county that the entire family can enjoy!

Campfire Ghost Stories

Put on your favorite Halloween costume for a chance to win prizes and brace yourself for spooky stories and songs around a glowing. Social distancing and masks are required. To register visit the Allegheny County Parks website

All stories are told between 7:00 pm -8:00 pm.

Family Drive-in Movies

Check out the line up for this fall’s Allegheny County Family Drive-in Movies series! Gates open at 5:30 pm. and movies begin at sunset.

Hay Day

Grab the family and enjoy hay rides, hay maze, arts & crafts, barnyard petting zoo, face painting, inflatables, balloon artist, puppet show, magician, games and more at Hay Day! Food, beverages, and snacks will also be available for purchase from local food trucks and vendors. Events take place from Noon – 4:00 pm.

Punkin Chunkin

Get ready to see some pumpkins fly as Allegheny County Parks teams up with SHARP Robotics from the Sarah Heinz House to launch pumpkins across the amphitheater field with a full-size trebuchet. The event will also have free arts & crafts, games, face painting, balloon arts, sword fighting lessons and much more! Paid activities such as a corhnole tournament presented by Steel City Cornhole and axe throwing by Woodchuckers Axe Throwing will be available. To fuel yourself for all that fun food and beverage vendors, Bella Terra Vineyards, BRGR, Brusters, By The Wayside Coffee, Ekernally Yours, Hop Farm Brewing Company, Le’s Oriental, and Tambellini’s will be in attendance. 

Trunk or Treat

Wear your Halloween costume and get ready for endless candy and fun! Cars will pass out candy and treats to kids and families that attend. Events take place from Noon – 2:00 pm.

      This article is from 2021, so the dates were for that year. We have a couple newer articles up about fall events happening this year (like Oktoberfest), and I’m sure we will have more fall event articles coming in the next few weeks as well!
