More than 7,000 people have already signed a Change.org petition to rename the Pittsburgh International Airport after Fred Rogers.

Welcome to our neighborhood

The petition, posted by Ian Miller, points out Pittsburgh’s historic prominence as a strategic crossroads in the US, as well as the number and variety of neighborhoods in the city. The letter goes on to read say that Fred Rogers and Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood shared Pittsburgh’s sense of community with the world.

With that sentiment in mind, the petition calls upon the Allegheny County Airport Authority and the City of Pittsburgh to officially name our airport: Fred Rogers International Airport.

It’s incredibly unlikely that the airport will oblige, but a city can dream, can’t it?
