There’s nothing that makes a home feel cozier than a burning candle infused with your favorite scent. The Candle Lab in Lawrenceville sells over 120 different scents with classics like vanilla bean and rose petal to more unique aromas like chardonnay and English ivy.

Their candles smell amazing and have a decorative look, but the real reason to go to The Candle Lab is to pour your own candle with a custom scent that you create.

Creating Your Own Candle and Fragrance

To create your own candle, first you have to smell all the smells. You’ll receive a clipboard and a paper to keep track of your favorite scents. This becomes somewhat challenging after you’ve smelled over 100 candles, but the Scent Stylists will help you figure out which scents will go together. After you’ve identified your favorite scents, you’ll pick out the size and style of jar that your candle will go in.

Now that you’ve got your scents and jar, you consult with the Scent Stylist. They’ll help you pick out two or three scents that will go together nicely based on your favorites. If you have any “must have” scents, they work around that. You get to make your own label with the scents you’ve chosen as well.

Now it’s time to create your custom candle. Using the fragrance oils, you start adding all the scents to a little container. Keep smelling the mixture to get the ratio right between all of the scents. When the container is full, your Scent Stylist pours the soy candle wax base into your jar and you add the oils. Stir that for about a minute. Then your candle rests for 90 minutes while it sets up.

Voila, a unique candle with a fragrance made by you!

  1. wanted to share a memory…
walking through a small fair in Pittsburgh and buying two amazing fragrances…dragon fruit and sugarcane is now my “go to” for spring and summer and another with Amber is my fall and winter favorite. The label has worn off with use. I just love these and cant wait to come back to your beautiful city to make a candle or two.
    Thank you.
