Fashion is something that means many different things for many different people. Maybe for you, it means dressing in the latest trends! For others, it might mean feeling comfortable in your clothing. At Urbana, you are able to find the perfect blend of both of these ideals. This local boutique can be found in the Oakmont neighborhood about 15 minutes from downtown and is one of our favorites in the Pittsburgh area.

Urbana originally began as a boutique that shared a space with Moonbeam Coffee on the main drag in downtown Oakmont. Since its expansion right before the pandemic, Urbana has grown into the space that it is today. Owner Anna has truly taken the new space (next door to its original location) and transformed it into something special. With the fun signature greenery wall at the front of the store to the fitting rooms and soon-to-be boudoir in the back, this space is designed to be somewhere you can feel safe. Anna’s dream, when she opened Urbana, was “to not only provide you with affordable curated women’s clothing but to create a space where all women can feel a sense of community and empowerment.” She has done just that.

When you enter Urbana, you will be greeted by Anna likely singing some awesome tunes (she was a voice major in college). The vibes are always so fun as she restocks the store and puts out new pieces. A lot of the pieces she stocks are from European designers which makes it so unique compared to other boutiques in Pittsburgh. You will find the most fun and unique pieces perfect for any body shape, hence their logo on the sticker! Something else that truly sets Urbana apart from other boutiques is that they carry sizes XS-3X. This is because Anna practices what she preaches and truly wants to be an inclusive space for women to feel welcome.

If you head into Urbana to browse around, other than clothing, you will also find fun accessories like leather bucket hats, jewelry from local designers, scarves, and even their signature CBD-infused bath bomb. The black leather bucket hat is one of our favorite unique pieces and recently became available in KHAKI!!! This hat is perfect for the transition into springtime. Speaking of transitional pieces, Urbana has been slowly bringing out items perfect for this chilly time of year. Anna very appropriately calls it “false spring. ”Everyone starts craving the florals and fun patterns, but it is still quite cold in PA. One of their items that quickly sold out was the Sherpa-lined Floral Velvet Jacket. As it is with many boutiques, items are limited. If you want to be the first to hear about new items and see exclusive try-ons, be sure to join the Urbana Insider group on Facebook! You’ll also hear about the Cinderella sale items on their Facebook Insider group. The Cinderella sale is when there is only 1 item left of its kind and it happens to be your size, like how Cinderella was the perfect fit for the shoe! These Cinderella sale items will be discounted for the lucky last buyer. Such a cute and fun promo!

Some exciting things for the future of Urbana are the addition of the boudoir and evening wear collections. The boudoir is expected to officially launch in March and will contain pieces for all body sizes. The evening wear addition is anticipated to launch in late spring. The back room at Urbana will become the home of both of these collections. As of currently, the vibes in the back room are very European chic, so these new items will fit PERFECTLY. Anna has always loved the European-inspired style and a boudoir is something she has dreamed of including in her small business since the start.

Whether you are a young girl making her first boutique purchase or you’re a mom looking for a fun and unique sweater, Urbana is your stop! You will be welcomed with open arms and positive vibes only. One of Anna’s many body positivity phrases is “we don’t talk like that here.” This is a reminder to not self-deprecate while trying on clothes. Every body size and shape is beautiful even if not everything fits perfectly. Feel free to give any style a shot in the dressing room and communicate with Anna if you need something different! Urbana is truly a place to be comfortably and happily yourself. Hurry and make your way to Oakmont for this true gem.
