It’s officially *almost* spring, which means it’s time to start thinking about your garden! Some seeds can be planted in the ground as soon as it’s thawed enough to dig. And if you’re starting from seeds, you’ll want to pick up supplies soon! Luckily, our friends at Trax Farms have everything you need to start your garden – whether you’re planting huge raised beds or just a few potted plants.

No matter what you’re planting, you’ll need some basics: planters and pots, soil, and a few tools. Trax has everything you need in their Garden Shop! We love their selection of pots and planters – boring terra cotta pots aren’t your only choice anymore! They have gorgeous options in all sizes and colors, so you’ll definitely find something to match your decor. And they have planters for outdoors and indoors, in case you want to bring some of the outdoors inside.

Starting your own seeds requires a little love, space, and time, so you’ll want to visit Trax ASAP and get started with them soon! Not sure what’s involved in starting seeds indoors? This article is a great how-to that tells you all the basics, including how to read your seed packet. Here’s what you’ll need from Trax:

  • Planting trays
  • Seed-starting mix or or a seed starting greenhouse kit
  • Labels (so you know what you planted where! We can almost guarantee you’ll forget if you don’t mark it)
  • Seeds
  • Grow light

They also have everything you’ll need to eventually transplant your seedlings outdoors in a couple months. Or, if that seems intimidating, buying seedlings and plants might be more up your alley.

Their Greenhouse isn’t stocked just yet – it’s too early in the season – but keep an eye on their social media for updates. Pretty soon, it will have everything you can imagine: herbs, vegetables, annuals, perennials, even shrubs and trees and equipment for ponds. More of an indoor-plant person? They’ll have those, too.

And, fun fact, if you’re looking for a plant or flower that Trax *doesn’t* have, you can order it by clicking the ‘Monrovia’ link on their website. It takes you to another company that ships the plants to Trax, and Trax will call you as soon as it’s available for pickup. We love that option so you can do all of your garden shopping in one place.

Speaking of doing all of your shopping in one place, make sure you get some other essentials while you’re at Trax. Things like Arrowhead Wine, fresh produce and baked goods, groceries, even home items. We can’t get enough of their cute decor and knick-knacks!

Trax Farms is open daily from 10am – 6pm. They’re located 12 miles south of Pittsburgh in Finleyville.
