Winter is in full frigid force, but that doesn’t mean you have to be hibernating the entire time inside. Bundle up, bask in the gray Pittsburgh clouds, and opt outside with these winter-inspired activities:

Boyce Park Snow Tubing

Allegheny County Parks will have tubes dashing through the snow starting on Friday, January 14 for their winter tubing season. Slide on through for the steepest slopes, until mid-March and layer up for a swift and slippy good time! Snow tubing tickets must be purchased online in advance Tickets and times can be found here.

Winter Ice Rink at SouthSide Works

There’s a new ice rink in town. Lace up and skate away at the Winter Ice Rink at SouthSide Works! With select hours Wednesday through Sunday, enjoy the fresh ice and vibrancy of the newly developed area with loved ones as you circle each other in winter glee. The Winter Ice Rink is located at the North Lot on S. Water Street, and skate rentals are available, too.

Pittsburgh Parks

Rediscover your next-door neighborhood parks, thanks to Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Take a short walk, wind through snow-covered trails, and embrace the stillness of winter with eye-catching views. From Highland, Riverview, Schenley, to Frick Park, and more, there are many trails awaiting an active adventure and a fresh, glacial-like perspective right here in Pittsburgh.

If these don’t suit you, opt outside from your car to the inside of a local retail space or restaurant! There’s plenty to do in Pittsburgh, even in the ‘deadly serious’ of winter. Have extra ideas? Let us know in the comments!
