The air is a little crisper in the morning and the sun is setting earlier. Fall is just on the horizon! And while fall festivals will look different this year, several local farms are still open and offering fresh produce for pickup and pick-your-own. In the greater Pittsburgh area, here are five farms you can visit to shop local and get in the fall spirit.

It doesn’t feel like fall until you’ve been apple picking! Triple B Farms is offering pick-your-own apples on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’ll be given a basket to use for the picking, and hand sanitizer will be available. You can also order fresh produce and bakery items for curbside pickup. Pick-your-own apples expect to start in late August and pumpkins in mid-September.

Produce Pickup at Soergel Orchards

While Soergel’s isn’t offering pick-your-own strawberries at this time, their stores are still open with the fresh fruits and veggies that we love. The country store offers made-to-order sandwiches and salads using their farm-fresh ingredients. And their Essential Boxes are as popular as ever — place an order for next-day pickup of a curated box of fresh grocery items, produce, and bakery treats. Soergel’s is currently open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
