Summer is officially here, and if there’s one thing that we yinzers are experts in, it’s knowing how to make the most of a beautiful sunny day here in the ‘Burgh!

If you like to hit the water in a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, or even if enjoying some good eats from the shore with your crew is more your speed, you can have the summer day of your dreams at 10.7 Marina in Verona.

What was once an exclusive oasis for two Verona families along the Allegheny River has been lovingly restored and expanded into a public-access marina where all are welcome to visit and take in all that the river has to offer! Named for its location on the river, which is exactly 10.7 miles from the spot where the Allegheny merges with the Mon, 10.7 Marina is ready to welcome you for your next river adventure.

Kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals are available at 10.7 Marina for adventurers without equipment, but the marina also offers a self-launch pass, memberships, and storage opportunities for more seasoned explorers who want to bring their own gear. Visitors can rent vessels from 10.7 Marina on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 PM-7 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM-7 PM.

Total beginner? No problem! 10.7 Marina offers paddling instruction and water safety classes to help everyone enjoy their experience on the river safely. Their first Kayak 101 course with Trey Rouss from The Power of Water, a water instruction organization based in Michigan, was fun + informational for the kayaking novice, as well as those that are experienced. Visit the 10.7 Marina website to see what courses are available!

If you’re a more experienced paddler, you can join resident river docent Seth for the weekly Paddle Social group at the marina on Thursdays from 6 PM-8 PM. It’s a perfect way to get to know other active paddlers!

Maybe you’ve even got your own boat and want to explore a new part of the river. 10.7 Marina has composite and aluminum boat slips available for rent for the season, and free guest docks are available for anyone visiting the marina. They’ll even deliver pizza down to your boat if you order ahead from their resident pizza truck!

Enjoy delicious pizza from River Monster Pizza once you return to the shore.

Of course, if you’re looking for a more relaxing afternoon (or you’re feeling hungry after a few hours of rowing), 10.7 Marina’s got you covered there too. Stop by their resident food truck, River Monster Pizza, for some delicious, fresh pies from Chef Ray!

Chef Ray – a.k.a. Ray Appleby – didn’t start out as a chef. His career was in metal fabrication, and everything he knows about cooking he learned from his mom (and from YouTube, because it is 2022 after all). He’s been making pizzas in his mom’s kitchen since he was a teenager, and his love for slinging pies has persisted ever since. Then, on a trip to Europe as a teenager, he first tried wood-fired pizza and Neapolitan pizza, and the fresh ingredients and traditional styles of cooking have inspired the pizzas he serves up at River Monster Pizza.

Some instant favorites on his menu are obviously the classics, such as Margherita and pepperoni, but his Green Monster (with pesto) and Blue Monster (with hot peppers and bleu cheese) are must-try pies as well!

You can order River Monster Pizza for pickup or dining on the 10.7 Marina terrace on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 PM-8 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM-8 PM, which means there’s just enough time to climb out of your canoe and dry off before enjoying some tasty pizza.

For even more entertainment, stop by on Saturday evenings to enjoy live music at 10.7 Marina! Starting around 6 PM every Saturday, enjoy tunes from local rock bands, singer/songwriters, DJs, and even fun cover bands! We can’t think of a better way to enjoy the view of the river and River Monster’s fresh pizza than with some awesome music.
Visit 10.7 Marina’s website to learn more about equipment rentals, self-launch passes and storage, and water safety classes, and stop by all summer long to enjoy great vibes, crave-worthy pizza, and being a part of a growing community of river adventurers!

The team at 10.7 Marina and River Monster Pizza are ready to welcome you to their Verona oasis for the best summer ever!
